How to copy and paste multiple things on iPhone

Updated

iPhone pastes only the last thing you copied. Here's how to collect several texts, links and addresses and paste each one where you need it.

Filling a form with a name, an address and an order number from three different places means copying, switching apps, pasting and repeating, because iPhone pastes only the last thing you copied. Here is how to work with several items at once.

1. Collect everything first, paste later

The fastest flow is to copy all the pieces in a row, then paste them one by one. That needs something that keeps every copy:

  • Notes: paste each item into a note, then copy them back out one at a time. Free, but it’s two copies per item.
  • A clipboard keyboard: with Copyo, each thing you copy goes into a history. When you reach the form, switch to the Copyo keyboard and tap each item into its field, with no app switching.

2. Pin what you paste all the time

Some text you paste every week: your address, bank details, an email signature, a meeting link. Pin those in Copyo and they stay at the top of the keyboard, ready in any app, even after you copy dozens of other things.

Prefer a built-in option? Text Replacement (Settings › General › Keyboard › Text Replacement) expands a short code like “@@” into your full email. It’s great for fixed text, but you have to set up each entry by hand.

3. Use Universal Clipboard between devices

Copy on the iPhone, paste on the Mac or iPad. Handy for moving one item at a time between devices on the same Apple Account, but it still carries only one item.

A quick workflow

  1. Copy the order number in Mail.
  2. Copy the address in Maps.
  3. Copy the tracking link in Safari.
  4. Open the form, switch to the Copyo keyboard, and tap each one into place.

Three copies, zero app switching while pasting. To see your options for a full history, read how to see clipboard history on iPhone.

Questions

Can I copy two things at once on iPhone?

Not with the built-in clipboard. It holds one item, so the second copy replaces the first. You need a note, a shortcut or a clipboard manager to keep both.

How do I paste the same text often, like an address or bank details?

Pin it in a clipboard manager such as Copyo so it stays at the top of the keyboard, or create a Text Replacement in Settings › General › Keyboard › Text Replacement.
