Privacy Policy
Short version: Copyo doesn’t collect anything. What you copy stays on your device.
- No server, no account.
- No tracking across apps, no ads.
- Anonymous usage sessions (Microsoft Clarity), every clip masked. One switch turns them off.
- Your history never leaves your device.
What Copyo stores, and where
Copyo keeps the items you choose to save (text and links) plus their pins and dates. They are stored only on your device, in a private App Group container shared by the Copyo app, the Copyo keyboard, the Share extension and the widgets, so each of them can show the same history.
You can delete any item, or clear your whole history (pinned items stay until you unpin or delete them), at any time in the app. Deleting Copyo removes everything it stored.
What Copyo doesn’t do
- Copyo has no server and no account. There is nowhere for your data to go.
- No tracking across apps, no advertising identifiers, no ads. The one third-party SDK is Microsoft Clarity, for anonymous usage sessions (see below).
- Copyo doesn’t sell, share or look at your clipboard data, because it never receives it.
Usage analytics (Microsoft Clarity)
To see where people get stuck, Copyo records anonymous usage sessions with Microsoft Clarity: which screens open, taps and scrolls, device model, iOS version and approximate region. Every history item and the search field are masked before anything leaves the device, so the content you copy is never part of a recording. Passwords and verification codes are never saved in the first place.
These sessions are not linked to a name, e-mail or account and are not used for advertising. Microsoft processes them under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. You can turn this off at any time in Copyo › Settings › “Send anonymous usage data”.
The keyboard and “Full Access”
iOS calls it “Full Access”, but the Copyo keyboard asks for it for one reason only: to read your saved history from the App Group container on your device. Without it, the keyboard can’t show your clips.
Nothing you type or copy is sent anywhere. The keyboard doesn’t log keystrokes and doesn’t use the network.
Passwords and verification codes
Password managers mark the passwords they copy as concealed. Copyo recognizes those items and never saves them. Verification codes (one-time codes) are skipped by default too; you can change that in the app’s settings.
Clipboard access
iOS doesn’t allow any app to read the clipboard in the background, and Copyo doesn’t try to. Copyo only reads the clipboard when you ask it to: when you open the app, when the Copyo keyboard appears, when you share something to Copyo, or when you use the “Save copied” control or shortcut.
Purchases
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store (StoreKit). Copyo receives no payment details, only confirmation from Apple that your device is entitled to the full version.
iCloud sync (planned)
A future version (1.1) may offer optional sync between your devices. If you turn it on, it will use your own private iCloud database (CloudKit), readable only by you. Copyo’s developer has no access to it. This policy will be updated before that ships.
Children
Copyo collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
This website
This website (copyo.app) also uses Microsoft Clarity to see, in aggregate, how visitors use the pages (clicks, scrolling, the device and browser) so we can improve them. Clarity may set cookies and hides text you type on the page by default. Microsoft processes this data under its privacy statement. None of it is connected to anything you copy in the app.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
